Verba volant, scripta manent

Spoken words fly
Like leaves on the wind;
Dancing and playing for a moment
Before disappearing into the pile,
Never to be heard again.

Written words remain-
Silent, stoic-
Permanent reminders
Of promises made
And stories remembered.

And yet, sometimes,
Their roles reverse.
Written words get lost to time,
While spoken words become inked
Upon the paper of the soul.

Both should be used carefully.

Verba volant, scripta manent“- a Latin proverb that means “Spoken words fly away, written ones remain.
