How to Stay Positive in a Negative World

Let’s face it- 2020 hasn’t been the best year. We’ve experienced more fear, uncertainty, and negativity in this single year than we have in decades, and that makes it difficult to find anything positive. 

I want to change that. 

Last week, I had to write two articles for my boss that gave me the idea for this post: one was over The Law of Attraction, and the other was a list of Positive Affirmations for your Business. Both of these methods work together to bring positive vibes into our lives, but only if we choose to use them. 

But How do we Use Them?

The Law of Attraction is when you believe that positive thinking will produce positive outcomes, while negative thinking will do the opposite. It sounds easy, but we all know how difficult staying positive can be. That’s where the affirmations come in. 

Affirmations are short, powerful statements that, when used often enough, can retrain our mind into thinking more positively. They are spoken in the present tense and may look like:

20 Affirmation for Beginners

  • I am enough
  • My business is growing
  • I am confident in my abilities
  • Money is coming my way
  • I am wise in my decisions
  • My self-esteem is not affected by those around me
  • I am loved
  • My knowledge is enough
  • I am successful
  • Fear is not in my vocabulary
  • I can adapt to any situation
  • This situation will not break me
  • I embrace new opportunities
  • Opportunities are mine for the taking
  • I am confident in my writing
  • People love me for who I am
  • I do not compare myself to others
  • My days are full of possibilities
  • I am beautiful inside and out

Now, I know that this may sound like a mystical, magical cure for our negativity, but, according to a study done by Christopher N. Cascio et al., positive affirmations increase certain areas of our brain that control our self-value and emotional regulations. That, in turn, helps us say no to things that may cause us harm (negative results) and allow the Law of Attraction (positive thoughts = positive outcomes) to take place. 

Everyone needs some positivity in their lives, and we can gain that positivity by practicing self-affirmations, the Law of Attraction, and embracing the good moments that we encounter every day. 

Because, in today’s crazy world, positivity needs all the help it can get.
