I remember a time
when we played until dark,
running home for dinner
before the streetlights came on.
I remember the sounds
of tree frogs and cicadas
as they sang away the summer nights
and lulled us to sleep.
I remember catching bugs-
fireflies and spiders,
butterflies and beetles-
To examine and admire.
I remember simpler times
without technology,
when books were prized possessions,
and imaginations were endless.
I remember the 1990s
in summer nights and small towns,
where everyone was a neighbor
and life was beautiful.

A picture of me from the late 90s…I think.
