In honor of St. Patrick’s Day (which is this week), I wanted to go old-school and pull some of my favorite Irish blessings for house and home.
I could do a google search and copy in some good ones, but why rely on technology when I have a book?
I found this book at Goodwill for a dollar and knew it had to come home with me. Printed in 1983, it’s a collection of Irish blessings, poems, legends, and greetings that have as much power now as they did back then.
Here are my favorites.

May your blessings outnumber The shamrocks that grow And my trouble avoid you Wherever you go!
Blessing 2
May brooks and trees and singing hills Join in the chorus too And every gentle wind that blows Send happiness to you!
Blessing 3
Lucky stars above you, Sunshine on your way, Many friends to love you, Joy in work and play- Laughter to outweigh each care, In your heart a song- And gladness waiting everywhere All your whole life long!

May you always have these blessings... A soft breeze when summer comes- A warm fireside in winter- And always- the warm, soft smile of a friend.
Blessing 5 (from the breastplate of St. Patrick)
May you be blessed with the strength of heaven- The light of the sun and radiance of the moon The splendor of fire- The speed of lightning- the swiftness of the wind- The depth of the sea- The stability of earth and the firmness of rock
