Applause

Have an idea, and imagine the applause.

Write it down in graphite.

Ink.

Blood.

And dream of the applause.

Now, rip your idea to shreds.

Reduce it.

Refine it.

And beg for the applause.

Send it into the world.

Your words.

Your thoughts.

And await the applause.

Get in front of a microphone.

Entice them.

Sell yourself.

And earn the applause.

Bare your soul, and bask in the applause.

This poem was inspired by the brave poets and authors who read at Open Mic events in hopes of becoming the next best thing.
