Things to be Thankful For

For many across the United States, this week is Thanksgiving. That usually means family, fun, food, and the opportunity to share what you’re thankful for.

However, instead of waiting for the awkward family circle-up (if you know, you know), I’m going to turn my assignment in early.

So, in no particular order, here are things I’m thankful for this year.

I’m thankful that I have the capacity and desire to learn more and grow outside of myself. I’ve learned a lot of different things this year- like how to form an LLC, host better interviews, and create things through weaving an macrame- and I look forward to learning more in the coming new year.

I’ve been through a lot of physical issues in my life, and I’m thankful for a body that still functions- even if it does need help every once in a while.

I’m thankful for my creativity and ability to imagine the poems and (occasional) stories that I share with you. It’s hard sometimes because creativity can ebb on occasion, but I know it’ll be there when I need it most.

I’m always thankful for my friends and family, but I especially felt it this year. They’ve supported me through my ideas, my health issues, and every messy part of my life. I wouldn’t be here without them!

I literally wouldn’t be who I am today without books, and I’m thankful for their inspiration, comfort, and teachings. I’m also thankful for writing because we’d have no books without it! I’d also have no way to express my feelings, cope with my traumas, and create new poems and worlds for you to enjoy.

This year, I’m especially thankful for YOU! You are what keep me writing, and I couldn’t do this without your support. Thank you for another wonderful year, and I can’t wait to see what next year brings!

That’s my list! There’s more, obviously, but these are the key points that I felt like sharing.

If you celebrate Thanksgiving, what are you thankful for? Let me know in the comments!
