Seasons of Change

The arrival of autumn heralds a season of change; leaves begin falling, the world tilts away from the sun, and life prepares to rest.

For some, this is a time of great transformation when they shed the past and look forward to the future. For others, it’s a time to explore new avenues and grow their talents beyond what people expect.

I fall into the second category.

Don’t get me wrong- I adore writing. Words are my everything, and I still have plans to write my novels and poems and share them with you.

But I am more than my words, and it’s time that I begin exploring my other interests- mainly, the fiber arts.

I love weaving, and I’ve made several scarves and headbands, bookmarks, and even a blanket (that my kid absolutely adores). There’s something magical about taking a ball of yarn and turning it into something comforting and useful, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to make something with my hands that doesn’t require a ton of thought.

I’ve also been learning macrame and have made plant hangers, keychains, and Christmas ornaments.

The best part is that it’s filling a hole, and I’m slowly turning into a more dynamic and creative person because of it. The steady rhythm of working with my hands has opened my mind to new ideas, and I have several new poems and two stories that I’m outlining for the future.

So, again, it’s not like I’m going away. I’m just expanding my talents beyond the blog.

I am, however, going to quit selling things on here. WooCommerce hasn’t served me well and I’m tired of constantly being inundated with spam orders.

I sell more books at local/in-person events, anyway, so having an online store doesn’t really do me any good. I will set up a better contact form, though, in case you want to order books from me directly. I’m always happy to sign and ship!

Autumn is a season of change, and I’ve been so wrapped up in words for so long that it feels weird to shift my focus, but- again- it’s for the best.

If you want to follow my fiber arts journey, you can check out my new Facebook Page (which will be the ONLY social media I use for the fiber arts) through the image below.

Otherwise, I’ll keep posting at least once a week on here with stories, poems, and articles about writing, growing, and more.

As always, thank you for your support, and I look forward to sharing this new stage of growth with you!
