Walking Alone

A terrible sensation
When walking on your own
Is the thought that maybe
You’re never quite alone

Were those footsteps behind you?
Did you hear someone cough?
You’re covered now in goosebumps
And longing to run off

Your eyes will start to focus
On shadows in the night
Your heartbeats get faster
As you look for the light

With keys between your knuckles
You soon pick up the pace
Praying that you make it
Back home to your safe space

But even when you get home
And lock the door up tight
You never know who’s watching
And feeding on your fright

So women, please be careful
When walking down the road
You never know who’s out there
And what they think they're owed
