Being productive can be challenging for a creative person (like me) when you consider all the distractions we face when working from home. There’s the distraction of chores, family, pets, errands, and a host of other ways to keep us from our creative endeavors.
Thankfully, we’re not alone, and there are several ways to increase productivity while still enjoying that work-from-home lifestyle!
Three ways to Increase Productivity:
1: Turn Off Notifications. This one may seem obvious, but it gets overlooked more than you may think. Turning off your text, email, social media, and other notifications during your creative hours can reduce distractions and keep you focused on your writing/ art/ whatever.
2: Take Frequent Breaks. Odd as it may sound, taking frequent breaks can help keep you focused. Stepping away for 15 minutes every hour or so can reduce burnout and keep the doldrums at bay. If 15 minutes isn’t enough breathing room, take 30 minutes. That’s plenty of time to grab a cup of coffee or go on a short walk and get a new perspective!
3: Quit Multitasking. As creatives, multitasking may seem like the name of the game, but it isn’t true. Trying to focus on multiple tasks at once can result in fatigue, confusion, and low-quality results. Instead, try focusing on one project at a time until they are complete. Your brain will thank you!
In Conclusion,
Being productive can be challenging in this day and age, especially if you’re a freelancer or creative, because distractions are everywhere. However, by implementing these three steps, you can increase your productivity and stave off burnout with ease!
