I forgot how it felt
To speak my raw, unbridled truth
No matter how uncomfortable
It may be
I forgot how it felt
To unleash my words upon the page
So they can run free
Into the hearts that need them
I forgot how it felt
To break the walls of my insecurity
And put my soul on display
Despite my fear
I forgot how it felt
To ignore sales and numbers
And appreciate my words
For exactly what they are
I forgot how it felt
To get lost in a new poem
And feel my true self emerge
With every stroke of ink
I forgot how it felt
But now, after all this time
I’m finally starting
To remember!
