Female Domination is a staple in the BDSM community, and each mistress brings her own sets of likes, dislikes, rules, and punishments to the table. They expect their Subs to be submissive, obedient, and able to carry out their mistress's every whim. Any disobedience is met with punishment. However, Female Domination isn't just about sexual power and control. It's also a loving relationship where Domme and Sub (or Mistress and Slave) support each other in the real world. The Domme shapes and molds the Sub into a better person, and, in return, the Sub supports their Domme's decisions and lifestyle. Femdom Alchemy is a collection of short stories that give you a glimpse into the lives of several Domme/Sub relationships. As the name suggests, the main Dommes in the stories are female, but the slaves are a mix of male and female (and one that's a bit in between). All the stories are connected by Club Noir; a BDSM club where Doms and Subs can go to meet potential playmates. Club Noir also offers different BDSM demonstrations for those who wish to learn about new techniques. I don't personally know a lot about the BDSM lifestyle, so it was interesting to read about the different scenarios that could happen within the community. Some of the stories were the Domme's point of view, and some were the Sub's, so we got to see both sides of the relationship. The characters were interesting enough to keep your attention, while the settings and dialogue were just enough to keep the stories flowing. Then, there's the sex. Femdom Alchemy is a graphically erotic book, and you get detailed versions of the pain, pleasure, and vulnerability that these characters went through. You also saw the love and care that the Dommes gave them afterward, which is a key element in the BDSM lifestyle (from what I've heard). As much as I enjoyed reading these stories, I did find some issues. There were several misspelled words, and the punctuation seemed to be lacking. What irritated me the most, however, was the fact that most of the stories ended in random locations. Some of the stories had appropriate cliffhangers, but most of them just ended with no real closure. Some of them ended in the middle of an action scene, which is frustrating because I (and other readers) would like to see the rest of the situation. Femdom Alchemy was an interesting read, but these issues are the reason I give it a 4 out of 5. I did enjoy learning about the BDSM lifestyle, and there were a lot of enjoyable scenes within the stories. Fair warning, though, it is not for the faint of heart!
